A WEDDING FLOODED OUT!

The Red Lion Inn in Boulder Canyon has been hosting weddings for many years and is considered one of Colorado's premier wedding locations. Ashli and Oscar talked for some time about the stream side location for a perfect summer wedding. They were enthusiastic about the justly famed food for their guests and spent many hours lining up just the right vendors for them.

Rev. Whitman met with them three times to be sure the ceremony met the needs of everyone who would be present. Some Spanish segments for Oscar's family and some specially romantic poems for Ashli rounded out the ceremony plan. All seemed to be well until Boulder Canyon did its' thing! A flood washed out the lower lawn just below where the ceremony was to have been held. Not only that, the flood washed out the only bridge to the Red Lion!

At literally the last minute the Boulder Golf Club came to the rescue. The made available their outdoor ceremony location right ext to the putting green. They cater many events from their kitchen so were able to set up a fine dinner and a cash bar. The guests from Mexico were suitable impressed, as were the may family members who came from North Dakota. It was a near perfect event. As the couple commented, “We'll never forget our wedding!”

By the way, The Red Lion is constructing a new bridge across Boulder Creek which will be higher and sturdier than the one which washed away.

LET'S CHAT AT A WEDDING SHOW

I'd love to chat with you either January 29 or April 19 at the Crystal Rose wedding shows 11a.m. till 3 p.m. There's always lots of free food and a glass of champagne too. There's no cost of admission and it's part of the fun in wedding planning. You'll find photographers, cake and flower folks, DJs and more at these shows. I like to watch the wedding tux and dress parades that go down the aisles. A wedding show is a good chance to think of what you'll want at your wedding.

I hope to see you Jan. 23 at the Crystal Rose near highlands ranch (303-730-4643 for directions; I like to get off C-470 at Lucent and drive over. The Lookout Mountain location happens April 10 so some flowers might be peeking out. Lookout Mountain is right above Golden and affords a spectacular view of the city. You just drive up I-70 and get off at any of the signs saying “Buffalo Bill's Grave/ Lookout Mountain. You'll see the Crystal Rose on your right. There will be a horse drawn carriage out in front.

You can also get to know me  Jan. 22  (11 to 3) 2165 Academy Place in Colorado Springs. This promises to be a great wedding show.
