Paige Smith and Gareth Regan

Crystal Rose on Lookout Mountain was a lovely setting for Paige and Gareth's summer wedding. They found each other all the way from Ireland and Chicago to unite there in a lovely outside ceremony.  The guests from all around the world enjoyed the old Colorado tradition of the promise from the congregation to the couple. This tradition started in Gilpin County (where Rev. Whitman resides) all the way back in the gold rush days of 1859.  Crystal Rose doesn't allow the traditional final admonition from the minister to be fulfilled: “You may shoot your guns!” That got a laugh. Every other part of that old ceremony was greeted with  joyful response from the gathered well wishers.

By the way, the couple's two kitties were specially mentioned by Dr. Whitman during the ceremony. The ceremony was somewhat traditional with the old reading from Corinthians in the Bible being used  “For love is patient and kind, not jealous or bragging. Love takes not account of the wrongs, and holds no grievances. Love endures all things, believes all things, hopes all things...Now dear ones abide with us faith, hope and love. And the greatest of these is love!”

LET'S CHAT AT A WEDDING SHOW

I'd love to chat with you either January 23 or April 10 at the Crystal Rose wedding shows 11a.m. till 3 p.m. There's always lots of free food and a glass of champagne too. There's no cost of admission and it's part of the fun in wedding planning. You'll find photographers, cake and flower folks, DJs and more at these shows. I like to watch the wedding tux and dress parades that go down the aisles. A wedding show is a good chance to think of what you'll want at your wedding.

I hope to see you Jan. 23 at the Crystal Rose near highlands ranch (303-730-4643 for directions; I like to get off C-470 at Lucent and drive over. The Lookout Mountain location happens April 10 so some flowers might be peeking out. Lookout Mountain is right above Golden and affords a spectacular view of the city. You just drive up I-70 and get off at any of the signs saying “Buffalo Bill's Grave/ Lookout Mountain. You'll see the Crystal Rose on your right. There will be a horse drawn carriage out in front.
